Virtual Book Club (14)

Online
Monday, 18 October 2021
7:15 am – 8:15 am (UK time)

Our new theme for this month is "A book by a prolific author"

By sharing our reads with the group with this category we've got more scope than ever to fill our reading piles for the future (i.e. someone who has written 10 or more books).

What will our members read? Did you know Isaac Asimov (author of I Robot) wrote more than 500 novels? How many books will your chosen author have written?

We'd love to see some new members so even if you've never come along to one of our meetings before please feel free to join us and spend a relaxing hour chatting about books.

What happens at the book club:
A small group meets on a regular basis, we review a book of your own choice matching the chosen theme. Each person takes it in turn to review their book, good points and bad points, what we enjoyed and writing styles. We then choose the next theme and meeting date. It is a great opportunity to brush up your presentation skills, boost your confidence and network with new or existing contacts.

Even if you don't read a book this time round, come along so you can see how the group works and its benefits. You don't have to have come along before to attend and we're happy to have people come along that just want to drop in for a session now and then. Be great to see you there!

Options are more limited in terms of acquiring books but just to give you some electronic ideas a go, you could try:
• Kindle Books
• Audio Subscriptions such as Audible
• Free books online from places such as Project Gutenberg - Click here
• Here is a link to a borrowing website linked to Leeds Libraries.

If anyone wants a quick chat about the book club, feel free to get in touch with President Melanie Jordan via LinkedIn.

Zoom link details will be received with your booking confirmation. We ask for you to choose a book in this theme and inform the office with your choice, via your booking.
