A new location for the annual golf tournament was a winner!

Our annual golf day took place this year at a new location for us, the Warwickshire Golf and Country Club in Leek Wootton. This American style course was well-received, with players saying it was challenging, albeit in a positive way!

Fifteen teams took part with individuals playing for the coveted Julius Neave trophy award and in nearest the pin and longest and straightest drive competitions. Read more.

Winner of the Insurance Charity Shield announced


We're pleased to confirm that the Insurance Centenary Charity Shield has this year been jointly awarded to The Insurance Institute of Dublin and The Insurance Institute of Leeds for the year ended 31 March 2019. After careful consideration, these Institutes were chosen on account of their significant contribution to the publicity of our work and fundraising for us.

We would like to thank all local institutes for their efforts over the last twelve months to help us continue supporting insurance people in need of help.
We're recruiting - could you volunteer for The Insurance Charities?

The role of The Insurance Charities Representative, also known as a Visitor, is to visit applicants requesting help from the Charity in their local Insurance Institute area in the UK and Ireland.

We are looking for CII member volunteers with a sympathetic and supportive attitude, good organisational skills and the ability to write accurate and concise reports in the following geographical areas.
  • Luton and Hertfordshire
  • Inverness, the Highlands and Islands
  • Chelmsford and South Essex.
A visitor is usually appointed for a year and key responsibilities include:
  • Carrying out visits annually or as and when required to individuals in their homes.
  • Verifying information supplied by the beneficiary or individual applying for support.
  • Providing a written and detailed confidential report post-meeting to the Charity.

SUPPORTING YOUR INDUSTRY

Charities join forces to support those living with dementia

We'd like to remind you that we've joined forces with the Alzheimer’s Society’s Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) campaign to create a bespoke support service for people affected by dementia in the insurance industry.

Anyone in the industry living with dementia, or who has a loved one diagnosed with the illness, can now contact us directly, where we will refer them to a dedicated adviser at the Alzheimer’s Society to provide the help that’s right for them. This could be by way of telephone support or a face to face meeting with a local dementia support worker.

An innovative pilot initiative in the Birmingham region has also been created to provide meaningful volunteering roles, that offer the sector the opportunity to give back to their local communities. Volunteering can take place on weekdays, evenings or during weekends, by phone or face-to-face. If you have offices in the Birmingham area do share details with them about this fantastic opportunity.

We are hugely grateful to all our supporters who work so hard to publicise the work we do among their membership associations, offices and professional networks throughout the year.

You're helping to raise awareness and ensure that no insurance employee and their family going through difficult times misses out on the support we can provide.

Please remember, that wherever we can, we would be happy to give a short talk or have a stand at any of your workplace or local networking events.

We can also provide you with flyers and giveaways for any events plus additional resources such as our short PowerPoint presentation or video about the charity. Our Awareness Week will run next year between the 22-26 June, so please put this in your diaries and keep an eye out for further information.

Gearing up for Insurance Endurance 2020


Insurance Endurance will return with a vengeance on Thursday 18 June 2020 for another day of networking and racing.

Dust off the racing gloves, dig out that outrageous racing gear and book your place today. Held at PFI in Grantham, the UK’s largest outdoor karting circuit, with an impressive 1382 metre track, 10 hair-raising bends and challenging straights, to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

Entry is open to all companies from across the insurance industry who are keen to network with (and go head-to-head against) the crème de la crème of the sector.

Why not invite your colleagues, clients, and suppliers to join you for a thrilling day out. After all, there’s nothing quite like the high-pitched screech of karts flying down the straight, or whizzing into a banked turn to liven up a Thursday morning!

Entry cost is £1500 excluding VAT for teams between 4-8. This price includes your kart, gloves, race suit and helmet hire, as well as all food and drink throughout the day, plus £100 donation to Insurance Charities. You can find out more and register here.
