Summer news from the Insurance Charities

Funding for training during COVID 19

In response to the COVID 19 crisis, the CII’s Education and Training Trust has launched a fund to provide access to any relevant training and professional development for those working in the UK and Ireland.

The funding is available to those working in insurance or financial planning who have been furloughed, made redundant or are worried about their future as a result of COVID-19.

Applicants will be able to secure the full cost of their training, choose the course and provider, and do not need to be members of the CII.

We've already been able to help around 40 professionals and are continuing to welcome new applications each day. Find out more.

“A little window of optimism and hope in what has been a very glum few weeks. You have no idea how grateful I am and that I now have a chance to carry on trying to better our circumstances.”

Thank you from The Insurance Charities

We'd like to thank all of you that participated in our Awareness Day last month.

As you'll know we revised our Awareness Week plans due to COVID-19, making the campaign fully digital and focussing activity on just one day.

It was great to see so many companies and individuals getting involved, so thank you if you shared, liked, or posted content in the run-up and on the day.

We saw a big increase in visits to our website as a result of the campaign as those unfamiliar with the charity visited to find out more.

Over the coming months please continue to spread the word about your industry charity and think of those in your professional networks who may need our support.

Did you catch our first-ever webinar?

To coincide with Awareness Day we delivered a webinar - a first for The Insurance Charities!

We were delighted to be joined by over 100 attendees who were looking to understand more about the charity and how we support those working in the insurance industry.

You can now access the webinar online for free which carries up to an hour of CPD should you feel it meets your professional development needs. We'd be very grateful if you shared this resource with anyone you think might be interested, such as line managers and those working in HR functions.

On the webinar you can hear from:
– Joshua Brekenfeld – Director of Global Corporate Development at Aspen
– Adrienne O’Sullivan – Chief Executive Officer at ARAG Legal Protection Ltd
– Amy Green – Insurance and Risk Specialist at Gallagher UK
– Annali-Joy Thornicroft – Chief Executive at The Insurance Charities

Update on annual golf tournament

Due to the current uncertainty around events and gatherings, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s annual golf tournament.

However, we are pleased to announce that a new date is scheduled for next year on Wednesday 15th September. Once again we will be returning to The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club in Leek Wootton.

If you would like to reserve a place as a team (four-ball) or individual please get in touch.

If you are interested in sponsorship or donating a raffle prize please contact our Marketing Manager Victoria to discuss.

Are you looking to share your skills and knowledge to benefit others?

With the intervention of Covid-19, our recruitment of a new Board and Audit Committee member was put on hold.

We are now again looking at applications with a view to making an appointment at the beginning of 2021.

Please send a CV, detailing current audit and cybercrime knowledge and expertise, so that we can shortlist those for interviews in the autumn by video conferencing or face-to-face meetings, if appropriate. Find out more.

Does your HR team know about The Insurance Charities?

When things have become difficult for colleagues, we’d like to encourage HR teams to signpost their staff to us for additional support.

We've now created a dedicated webpage for HR professionals which we'd encourage you to share with those in your organisation. They can also watch our recent webinar which provides an in-depth look at the support we can offer.

Support for those living with dementia

When someone is diagnosed with dementia it can feel like the rug has been pulled from under their feet. Too often people facing a diagnosis don’t know where to turn for the right support.

The Insurance Charities and Insurance United Against Dementia have created a dedicated service to support anyone in the industry affected by dementia – whether that’s for them or their loved ones.

You can access free and personalised support and advice from the Alzheimer's Society to help you navigate the challenges of dementia. Find out more.
