Insurance Distribution Directive

With effect from the 1st October 2018, the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) replaced the Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD).

The IDD aims to enhance consumer confidence when buying insurance and to create a level playing field between the various insurance distribution channels - Intermediaries, Direct Insurers, Price Comparison sites, etc.

The IDD will have great impact on all general insurance staff and includes the need to have compulsory training of 15 hours per year for all general insurance staff.

This has nothing to do with CII CPD; it will become a legal requirement for all staff involved in insurance distribution from the 1st October 2018 to undertake the required training.

This will be the first time ever that a minimum number of training hours will become a legal requirement in the UK general insurance market.

This event will be suitable for anyone on the general insurance side involved in insurance - they will all need to understand these key changes.

This will be of interest to all CII members - Insurers, Brokers and Loss Adjusters.
