2015 Freedom and Beyond

The new Pensions Freedoms legislation went live on 6 April 15 – so what is the impact? This session will look at the new retirement regime, recapping on some of the pros and cons of the new options. Mike will also spend time looking at the new death benefit rules and some of the exciting planning opportunities that arise.

This event will appeal to pension professionals, financial planners, paraplanners, and anyone with an interest in pensions.

Speaker Biography
Mike Morrison is a well-known industry character who has worked in financial services for many years. In 1990, Mike joined Winterthur as Technical Manager and was instrumental in the development of their SIPP product and, later, their pioneering work in income drawdown.
After 22 years with Winterthur (now Axa Wealth), Mike joined AJ Bell where he is Head of Platform Technical with AJ Bell. In his current role, Mike works with advisers to help them understand the complexities of the UK retirement and platform markets. Mike also appears in the Press on financial services and is a regular speaker on such issues. Mike is ex-Chairman of AMPS (the Association of Member Directed Pension Schemes) and is on the Financial Planning Committee of the ICAEW. He is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and the Chartered Insurance Institute and has an LLB and an LLM in European Law.
