This lecture will cover useful facts, statistics and advice to about cyber security. It will alert you to the very real dangers whilst offering timely advice on how to keep up with developments and stay safe online. This lecture will alert brokers, and SMEs to the threat of cybercrime and their current vulnerabilities to it.

Alastair demonstrates a now not uncommon “hack” of an office network and how simple it is to fall victim to these scams. Staff are increasing vulnerable to Phishing fraud where a familiar email address of a supplier or work colleague is cloned to encourage them to do what they would not normally do…click on that emailed link or attached Word file!...

Alastair goes on to explain the simple steps to take to beef-up your defences against cyber-crime - The Cyber Essentials!

Speaker Biography

Alastair Murray has some useful facts, statistics and advice to say about Cyber Security. He has been designing Websites, managing servers, and publishing large and complex secure trading platforms for insurance brokers and IFAs since the 1990s.

Alastair and his company, The Bureau, are responsible for hundreds of Websites belonging to insurance, financial and solicitor firms, many that hold personal, confidential and online transactional data. This experience of all things online and keen focus on security is valued and respected by his clients.

Alastair’s talk on cyber-crime and security will alert you to the very real dangers whilst offering timely advice on how to keep up with developments and stay safe online.
