12:00 pm – 2:30 pm (UK time)
    • Gary Potter, BMO Global Asset Management
    • Kelly Prior, BMO Global Asset Management

Details

The advent of the global financial crisis and the resultant quantitative easing program by Central Bankers has created worrying distortions in financial markets. It has also heavily influenced the types of solutions advisers are choosing for their clients and 2019 is likely to be the year where this more recent conventional wisdom will be challenged.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the session attendees should be able to:
•Talk about the extent of equity market declines in 2018 and the key reasons for the drawdown in many risk assets.
•Better explain the specific issues affecting the economic and market prospects for 2019 and the likely key influences
•In a world which continues to be driven towards outsourced investment solutions, better describe the differences and influences on such solutions and some of the pitfalls in some of these solutions
•Gain a better understanding of the cyclical nature of the passive world and understand that now may be one of the worst times to heavily invest in passive solutions. To also be shown just how the use of passive solutions in an adviser's world is guaranteed to provide underperformance for clients.
•Also get a better understanding of the people and investment philosophy behind the successful BMO multi manager team who currently manage £3bn of client assets.
