Women's Forum Webinar - Pandemic Anxiety or Imposter Chatter

Thursday 11th June :1.00pm- 2.00pm

Overview:

Following Kate’s successful talk to the launch of our Women Network Forum last year, we are excited to welcome her back, this time online, to discuss the imposter phenomenon in light of the current environment being created by the working from home culture that Covid19 is creating.

In the current climate of having to work from home the imposter syndrome is getting a chance to rear its head a little more than usual. Kate will discuss why this might be the case and provide you with practical tips to reduce the chatter even in these challenging times. She will also address what not to say to someone else who is experiencing imposterism and how to support them.

The imposter phenomenon is experienced by some 70% of people at some point in their lives. Described as a feeling of intellectual phoniness, this phenomenon, or syndrome as it is now often termed, is not confined to women, or to academics, or to those who work for others… it is widely experienced.

It is a feeling of being an imposter. (the real imposters don’t experience it at all!)

Learning objectives:

Through this interactive talk, delegates will be able to:

•Recognise why Imposter Chatter may be more prevalent when working from home;
•Understand strategies and steps you can take to reduce your own Imposter Chatter;
•Identify at least three ways to support others when working from home.
