E-Scooters: The noise being generated by this silent transport

Online
Wednesday, 17 November 2021
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm (UK time)
    • David Spencer, Partner, BLM

With expansion of local authority trial schemes, private ownership apparently on the rise (and with Christmas around the corner…) the first claims from e-scooter use have started to appear.

By the end of this session, delegates will be able to understand:

  • the available data and statistics on scooter use
  • the insurance issues it might generate and
  • what may lie on the road ahead.

Speaker

David Spencer, Partner, BLM

David Spencer is a Partner in BLM’s Manchester office and a Lead Lawyer in their Catastrophic Injury team. He handles claims from Road traffic, EL and PL accidents involving complex liability issues, brain and spinal injury, amputations, serious orthopaedic injuries and chronic pain. He is Head of BLM’s Sports Practice Group and is the appointed panel solicitor for liability claims involving the UK governing bodies of two and four wheeled motorsport. He is part of BLM’s working group advising on the fallout from Vnuk and the implementation of the Motor Insurance Directive and a member of BLM’s e-scooter SMG. Described (by an unknown reference) in the latest Legal 500 as “the consummate insurance lawyer” he has not used – and has no immediate intention to use – an e-scooter.
