Tracy qualified in England and Wales in 1989 and specialises in defending liability injury matters.

She represents insurers and handles employers’, public and product liability matters. She advises on the full range of serious, complex and catastrophic personal injury claims, including stress, bullying, harassment, brain injury, amputations and paralysis.

Tracy was involved in the leading cases of Worsely v Tambrands (Toxic Shock Syndrome and labelling) and Mattis v Pollock (nightclub doorman and vicarious liability) one of the oft-quoted cases on assaults by employees. She regularly lectures and advises on vicarious liability and the impact of agency agreements.

Tracy spearheads Kennedys’ Civil justice group driving engagement with government on the interlocking Jackson reforms. She has met with Ministry of Justice officials, Lord Justice Jackson, All Party Parliamentary Group, various MPs and Lords as part of on-going engagement with ’Westminster village’. She is the co-author of Kennedys’ Brexit report following interviews with over twenty London Market insurers.

Tracy works closely with Kennedys’ Emerging risks group and regularly lectures on emerging trends, policy changes and future planning. She frequently delivers training to clients and writes for Kennedys Personal Injury Brief. She is also a co-author of Kennedys' Claims Handling Law and Practice Book.

Chambers UK 2016 ranks Tracy team as band 1 for personal injury; mainly defendants and Tracy has been individually recognised as leader in field. “She is a charismatic and creative lawyer who builds wonderful relationships with her clients”.

Work highlights

▪ Dealt with brain injury case pleaded around £11. 5 million where a three year old girl suffered significant head injury after being hit by a door which fell from a display in a DIY store which was complex due to Claimant’s ever changing care needs and parents having limited ability to care for their child. Claim was settled in 2016 for £8.9 million.

▪ Handled a complex construction case when claimant suffered a severe head injury whilst trying to hoist a staircase being banked by his brother. Four other Defendants which required careful handling to ensure that the litigation did not become absorbed in contribution arguments to the rehabilitation detriment of a severely injured man and a family struggling to cope.

▪ Instructed in respect of a claim brought by a pedestrian injured by a bus. Secured significant reduction for contributory negligence and claim settled for £5.4 million.

▪ Representing a corporation in relation to a claim brought by a former male employee for alleged sexual assault by a fellow male employee. Also issues with Claimant’s use of social media and harassment of employees
