In our continuing endeavours to find new and interesting ways of developing our Continuing Professional Development programme our Council felt it appropriate to take an in depth look at the Brewing industry in Northampton. Phipps NBC has returned to its roots in a Victorian brewery in the heart of Northampton, 40 years after Phipps' Bridge Street brewery closed. Since April 2014 our Albion Brewed beers have been available throughout the East Midlands once more, on draught and in bottle.

We have organised a tour around the brewery of this historic local business:
-Sample their wonderful range of ales, ancient and modern, within the newly opened Albion bar attached to the brewery.
-Follow the brewing process and learn a few of Phipps' secrets,
-Wander through the tunnels and cellars under the building,
-See the Kings Well where the finest water in the area has attracted brewers for centuries

We felt that there were several reasons for this providing an insight into good risks of its type from:
-An insurance surveyors perspective
-An insurance brokers perspective
-A loss adjusters perspective
-An examination students perspective
-Neil Hoppitt’s perspective, which grew more relaxed as the evening progressed

As you may or may not know, Northampton probably brews the best lager in the World. This is because of the fine brewing quality of our local spring water. Northampton was once home to one of the largest and most successful Brewing companies in the East Midlands. This company once occupied the site now used by our Danish friends. The Phipps NBC Brewing Company, whose name was synonymous with Northampton, has been brought back to life and is once again being brewed in the centre of the town.
