Get to Know Your Council - May Release
Name: Bob Walne
Occupation/Industry Experience:
Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (PFS). I joined Norwich Union in 1990 straight from school and have been involved in the financial planning profession ever since in a variety of administration, training and more recently in a financial planner role.
How long have you been on the Insurance Institute of Norwich’s Council?
I joined the council in May 2022!
What is your role, and what does it involve?
In late 2021, I joined the Norfolk PFS committee as a Chartered Champion. However, I relinquished this role to become the Chair in January 2022. My position on the IIN committee is to represent the Norfolk PFS members.
Why did you decide to join the Council?
To meet new professionals and try and raise the profile of the PFS. It is also good to know what is happening locally across other sectors in the insurance industry.
What are you most looking forward to in the forthcoming year on the Council?
The dinner later this year, hosting some face-to-face events and supporting members as much as possible.
Tell us one unusual fact about yourself
I appeared on Eggheads in 2013, which was a great experience. I got through the multiple-choice questions (Film &TV) but was beaten in ‘sudden death’ when I couldn’t recall who played Oskar Schindler in Schindler's List! Liam Neeson for anyone who didn’t know!
