Overview

This hour long seminar will explain the key role that trusts can play in the estate planning process. It will outline the risks and benefits of using them and will explore the different types available, how they work and the impact of them being used incorrectly. We will also consider their impact on the estate administration process after death.

Speaker biography

Nigel Merchant – Training Manager, Kings Court Trust

Nigel has over 35 years of experience working in the financial services and legal sectors.

Having joined Midland Bank straight from school, Nigel spent 27 years working in a variety of client and business facing roles across their branch network, culminating in a role as Branch Manager following the transition to the HSBC brand.

In 2006, he joined Kings Court Trust as an office based client adviser. Within 12 months, Nigel’s professional and empathetic approach to customer service saw him promoted to the role of Regional Estate Consultant. Nigel was responsible for conducting hundreds of client meetings each year, helping bereaved families to understand the options available to them regarding estate administration and probate. He went on to manage the national team of consultants and was responsible for the overall performance of this team.

Last year, Nigel became Kings Court Trust’s Training Manager with responsibility for delivering educational content to our nationwide network of business partners. He works with financial advisers across the country to help them develop the skills, knowledge and expertise to deliver our estate administration service to their clients.

Booking Terms

The Nottingham Insurance Institute charges for non-attendance at all CPD events. If you do find that you are unable to attend, we ask that you give us at least 4 working days notice that you are no longer able to attend.

Please note, if you fail to let us know before this deadline, we will need to charge a £30.00 (inc. VAT) non-attendance fee to cover the cost of catering, booking arrangements and denial of your place to other members.

All cancellations must be received by email and you will receive confirmation of your cancellation. You may also nominate a replacement if you are unable to attend. By proceeding with the registration you agree to these terms and conditions.
