This session is around the valuable tax benefits of relevant life and the portability considerations upon leaving service will assist in providing an understanding of this type of cover enabling advisers to engage with business owners and highlight the advantages of providing personal life protection as an employee benefit. Income protection is for many people the cornerstone of financial planning and the ability for a business owner to effect an income protection policy via their business again with a number of tax advantages which can also provide added protection for pension contributions being made by the company enables clients to protect their income up to retirement and beyond. As part of the session I will complete a comparison between personal income protection and executive income protection to highlight the benefits for business owners.

State Pension

  • Wed 29 Jan 12:15 pm – 2:00 pm
  • Belgrave Rooms, Nottingham
    • Paul Squirrell, FundsNetwork

The state pension is the foundation stone of retirement planning for most individuals. It has also been subject to constant adjustment, proposals and even a complete replacement in April 2016. As such, understanding the state pension is arguably more complex than ever. Going forwards there are further changes to the state pension age scheduled and even these are subject to further proposals for change! It is hardly surprising that many find the state pension very confusing and not confident when they may receive the state pension or how much this may be.

  • Belgrave Rooms, Nottingham
    • Aaron Yates, Berea

Cyber 101: A crash course on the intersection of cyber security, data protection and cyber insurance. ‘Cyber’, and its component parts of information security and data protection, are topics of increasing concern for the insurance industry. A variety of bottlenecks are constricting market growth. Brokers are struggling to engage clients on the risk, and contending with the resultant PI & E&O exposures. Insurers are creating wildly differing products under the same title of "cyber", and contending with aggregation and silent-cyber issues, and both groups with the potential for catastrophic loss. The net result is that many businesses seeking cover and assurance are confused by the risk and available solutions.
