Overview

Human beings evolved to communicate and interpret communication in a face-to-face environment. Away from in person interactions we lose the ability to fully interpret the communication of others. The current virtual environment of remote working and trading has only accentuated the need to develop impactful and tailored skills across different communication media if we want to succeed in the business world.


• Mehrabian’s Law – 3 elements to interpreting communication from others.
• What do we lose when we are no longer F2F?
• Email – research on reasons for miscommunication and conflict. How to adjust to mitigate against this.
• Impactful and clear writing skills
• Adapting verbal (telephone) communication

o Speech techniques to improve how we sound and build the Visual aspect.

• Adapting communication in virtual meeting platforms

Speaker Biography

Diane Jenkins BA (Hons), ACII, Chartered Insurance Broker of Nick Thomas & Associates has huge experience working with major Brokers across a range of roles and disciplines, to include: • Placement • Programme design • Training • New business • Client Servicing • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) due diligence

Diane is now a highly respected trainer to the insurance market. Diane’s strength is in practical application of knowledge with specific specialisms including Business Interruption, Cyber and Property Owners. She is the Education Secretary and former chairperson of the London Business Interruption Association. She was part of the IIL Advance Study Group - Business Interruption Policy Wordings and has collaborated with the authors of several Business Interruption textbooks. She is a member of the Cyber Insurance Association, and she carries out the insurance cyber policy reviews for Cyber|Decider (https://www.cyberdecider.com/) Diane’s work includes delivery as an Associate for Nick Thomas & Associate.
