Event Details

The Insurance Institute of Royal Tunbridge Wells are looking forward to welcoming back one of it’s previous council members as he gives an important talk in the General Data Protection Regulation which will effect all of us over the coming months.

The Data Protection Act (DPA - Directive 95/46/EC) is being repealed and will be replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - 2016/679) on 25/05/18.

The impact of GDPR from its significant fines to the new and enhanced Data Subject rights is becoming much more widely publicised. However, it is important to sift through the myth and understand what the regulation means for how we will operate in the Insurance Industry.

The structure of this CPD will provide delegates with the following learning outcomes:

1.Understand the General Provisions from what
constitutes processing to distinctions between personal and special categories of personal data

2.Understand the Principles of GDPR and its intended aims

3.Understand the Rights of the Data Subject from the enhanced rights together with the new rights

4.Understand the Controller and Processor including their obligations and be able to distinguish between them

5.Understand the salient points from the other 7 chapters e.g. Remedies, liability and penalties

6.Understand the key GDPR changes

7.Understand the material Articles from GDPR for the Insurance Industry

8.Overview of some common FAQs for Insurance operations

9.Insight into GDPR Programmes across the industry
