The cost of poor acoustics in building, industry & environment

Tuesday, 12 July 2022
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Ros Lambert-Porter, Principal Associate, Hawkins

Acoustic design is not something most people think about until a problem is identified. Errors in design, construction, or simply failure to consider acoustics can lead to annoyance, loss of privacy, and, in some cases, increased risk to health and safety. This webinar will address some of the common issues we investigate, with a particular focus on noise in the built environment.

Learning Objectives

By attending this webinar, delegates will be able to identify:

  • What is an acoustics engineer and what they investigate
  • Areas in which poor acoustics result in large problems
  • Problems relating to room acoustics
  • Problems relating to buildings and structures
  • Problems relating to external noise, including nuisance and antisocial behaviour

Speaker Biography

Ros Lambert-Porter worked as an acoustics consultant in several countries and in several industries before joining Hawkins in 2018. She has degrees in both Audiology (hearing science) and Applied Acoustics so brings a unique perspective to the subjective experience of noise and acoustics. She specialises in noise and vibration exposure in industry, building acoustics, and noise nuisance.

This webinar will be held via MS Teams.
