With support from:

The annual North East Institutes conference is back, with another topical scenario-based session: A staff member working from home due to Covid lockdown restrictions breaches employer's instructions resulting in malware infecting the company system. Contact information, bank details and other personal information is accessed. What are the many implications...?

Insurance provides financial protection and more. Added value benefits such as IT support, compliance, legal support/defence, publicity management and support for the wellbeing and mental health of staff all feature.

We explore the impact and implications associated with the 'digital frontier' through realistic real-life scenarios, in particular the aspects related to legal & regulation; IT - securing a breach and database cleaning; publicity, reputation and communication; actual and contingent Business Interruption losses; parametric BI; cover; legal liability; financial consequence of disability; and the employer's legal responsibilities for staff welfare.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this event delegates will be able to identify an understanding of:

  • The legal, IT and reputational impact of the loss
  • The Business Interruption implications
  • The impact on staff welfare and wellbeing

The conference will be split into two two-hour sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We will be having breakout sessions in order for delegates to be able to participate fully.

The event is supported by Pen Underwriting Ltd and we thank them for the time and effort taken to create this engaging, interactive case study-scenario content.

The conference will take place on Microsoft Teams. We will issue the relevant links to all booked delegates in the days before the event.

Pen Underwriting (Pen) is a multi-class, multi-territory Managing General Agent (MGA).

From a ‘super start-up’ of a dozen or so brands in 2015, to a single cohesive £600m GWP business, they are setting their sights on their next milestone – with a bold new vision to become a £1bn GWP underwriting & distribution business.

They have already built a well-known brand, transformed themselves operationally and created a multi-class, multi-territory virtual insurer – combining all the security and capabilities you’d expect from an insurance company with the entrepreneurial energy, niche expertise and flexibility that MGAs are known for, as well as a true marketplace for brokers.

An underwriting business, led by underwriters. A business that demonstrates every day the added value it brings to customers, colleagues, coverholders, brokers and capacity providers alike.
