CF6 (Mortgage Advice) Pre Exam Training, Thursday 28th May 2020

The Personal Finance Society Hants and Dorset Regional Committee in association with the Insurance Institutes of Bournemouth and Southampton have organised a ‘distance learning’ training day via an online and interactive conference video facility for those members who are studying for and taking the CF6 examination.

The cost of the day’s training will be £41 for PFS members and £51 for non-PFS members. Your attendance will be confirmed once the member has paid the fee invoice. There is a maximum of 12 attendees. If we are oversubscribed, you will be placed on a waiting list.

The day will commence at 0930 sharp and finish by 1630, with breaks timetabled for lunch etc throughout the day.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all face to face training organised by committee has been suspended until further notice by HM Government and the PFS and CII centrally.

NB Multiple-choice-question (MCQ) exams – CII Statement

“Again, as the safety of our candidates is our top priority and in line with UK government guidance, we have taken the decision to postpone all the UK June’s multiple-choice-question (MCQ) exams.

From July MCQ exam candidates will gradually begin to access onscreen exams, remotely invigilated, with our new supplier. Again, this means that you can sit your exams from the comfort of your own home or chosen private space. This means that exams can continue to be sat however long government restrictions are in place. This will start with remote invigilation being offered for the most popular units in July, with a plan to roll out to all multiple-choice-question units by the end of October 2020, this includes all international units too.

We will be emailing all candidates booked onto June’s MCQ exams to confirm the postponement of the exam.

Candidates will then have two choices:

  1. To rebook the exam at an exam centre for another date, or:

  2. To take the exam by remote invigilation, this will start from July and be a phased roll out

Please bear in mind when rebooking that there remains uncertainty about the opening of exam centres for MCQ exams in July. We will reassess this nearer the time in line with updated government guidance. If exam centres can open, with social distancing measures in place, then candidates will have the choice to sit their MCQ exams either at a centre or by remote invigilation.”

The CF6 preparation day aims to increase your chances of passing the exam.

The day’s course will cover the following areas:

  • The house-buying process, from making an offer to completion and the key parties involved;
  • The different types of borrowers and how to meet their individual mortgage needs;
  • The different types of mortgage product and repayment options and their suitability for the client;
  • The legislative and regulatory position of mortgages and the requirements of a mortgage adviser.

By the end of the course, delegates will have covered the key elements of the CF6 syllabus with the emphasis on the CII Learning Outcomes, will have been introduced to the exam format and adopting a suitable exam technique.

The course trainer is Giles Hewitt, a CII approved trainer, based in Cornwall who runs his own training consultancy, Hewitt Financial Training Ltd.
