Our early April lunch meeting is on Thursday 2nd April and our guest speaker is Sarah Moore from PoolRe. Sarah is a Chartered Insurer who was also Secretary of The Guildford Insurance Institute for 5 years. She has over 20 years of industry experience within a branch network and head office environment, holding a variety of broker and technical underwriting roles and was, most recently, Manager of Delegated Authorities & Schemes for a large composite insurer. Sarah joined PoolRe in 2013 and is now Head of Customer Engagement. Her responsibilities include heading up the Distribution, Claims and Technical areas. Our March lunch meeting is on Tuesday 10 March and our guest is Jeff Heasman a leading international trainer with many years of experience working within the legal and insurance industries as a litigation executive and senior liability adjuster. This thought-provoking session will provide an insight into some of the more bizarre cases that have had an impact on the Insurance industry, from the curious case of the snail in the ginger beer bottle, through to cannibals in a boat and many more. It will focus on how these cases have thrown up the practical and ethical issues the law has grappled with and how ultimately this has impacted on the evolution of the Insurance industry over the years. This is a must for anyone with an interest in the historical development of the Insurance industry and how it adapts to judicial decisions.

Alan has undertaken operational management roles for three major global companies. NatWest Insurance Services, RBS Insurance Group and Allianz Insurance and has run underwriting, broking and claims functions. 12 years ago he set up his own training company something that he had always longed to do due to his passion for training and professionalism. He has trained six of the individuals who have achieved the best ACII completion in the whole of the United Kingdom. Many of the people he has trained have won national prizes from a widely diverse range of subjects Alan helps run the Allianz scholarship programme in both the UK and Ireland. He also runs throughout the UK and Ireland the Allianz technical academy programme for their brokers and the Allianz Cii training programme for their staff. As well as training in Allianz Alan has undertaken training for most of the major brokers and Insurers at some point including Marsh, Aon, Gallagher, Zurich, RSA, Aviva and and many others, this is in addition to undertaking work for the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Kate is a ‘Crime Prevention Design Advisor’ (Crime Prevention Officer), working in the Crime Prevention Unit at Staffordshire Police Headquarters. Kate has worked for the force for sixteen years, and was formerly a front line Scenes of Crime Officer, she has the portfolio for cyber, fraud and business crime within the force. Kate will be speaking about fraud and cyber-crime, and explain why we are all at risk to this criminality in today’s society, she will then explain and provide tips on how we can better protect ourselves from such crimes.
