Pension Planning

The Insurance Institute of Sussex is hosting a number of revision workshops to help our student members and others who are working towards their core insurance and financial services exams.

On Tuesday 13 September, John Traynor will lead a full day revision workshop focusing on the key technical points which are likely to be tested in the exam and it costs just £50 for members (£100 for non-members).

By the end of the day, delegates will be able to:

  • calculate the Total Pension Input for money purchase and final salary schemes, including the use of carry forward and, if appropriate, calculate the correct Annual Allowance Charge
  • identify the different options open to members with money purchase benefits at minimum pension age and explain their risks and rewards
  • identify the options available on the death of the member for both crystallised and uncrystallised funds
  • identify the main Benefit Crystallisation Events and calculate the member's remaining lifetime allowance, including circumstances where the member has transitional protection
  • explain how the state pension is calculated for someone reaching state pension age after 6 April 2016
  • explain the main member benefits in a final salary scheme, the level of protection for members and the impact on schemes following the abolition of contracting out

To reserve your place for this event, please click on the Book Now button below.

Useful Information

Registration will take place at 9.00am so that the workshop can start promptly at 9.30am. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival and during breaks throughout the day. Please note that lunch is not provided, but a cafeteria is available on-site, or delegates can bring their own food if they prefer.
