J10 - Discretionary Investment Management 2017

Led by a CII approved trainer, this one day training course costs £65 for members (non-members £85) and is suitable for candidates studying for their J10 exams in 2017.

By the end of the day delegates will able to:

  • understand the characteristics of the short term money market

  • accurately calculate and interpret the main performance characteristics of a bond, including its duration

  • understand how Gilts are issued in the UK market

  • understand the workings of an index linked Gilt

  • accurately calculate and interpret the primary financial data in a company's balance sheet and accounts

  • understand the concept of rights issues and accurately calculate the post rights issue price

  • understand how economic factors can affect the performance of different assets

  • identify the factors that must be taken into account in recommending an appropriate portfolio for a client's needs

  • understand the characteristics of the main investment strategies

  • understand the characteristics of non-main stream investments such as options, CFDs, warranties and hedge funds

  • understand how to analyse the performance of a portfolio against a benchmark and identify the cause of under or over performance

There will be a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
