Senior Managers & Certification Regime
what needs to be done by 9 December 2019
The Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) is being extended to all solo regulated firms (i.e. those that are only regulated by the FCA) from 9 December 2019.
Be under no illusion, Approved Persons will have an onerous obligation to discharge. They will need to be fully aware of what they should be doing and must be able to evidence the same. Boards or leadership teams will have to function correctly, with compliance being viewed as a serious and critical function.
With SM&CR bringing conduct rules to all staff, will you know what needs to be done?
To find out how prepared you are for SM&CR, join us on Thursday 24 October at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath, as Branko Bjelobaba will guide you through the proposals, changes and other requirements that this new regime is introducing.
This one-hour seminar is free to all CII/PFS members (non-members may attend for £25 per person). It will be relevant to both General Insurance and Financial Services members and those attending will be provided with a draft Statement of Responsibility/Prescribed Responsibility template (currently drafted for a GI broker) that can be adapted for their own needs.
To join us as we learn more about this important subject, reserve your place by clicking on the Book Now button below.
Please note - your membership number will be required to take advantage of the "member only" rate, so please make sure this is available when booking. This event is scheduled to start promptly at 6.00pm and light refreshments will be served from 5.30pm onwards.
By the end of this event delegates will have gained an insight into:
why the need to change
"Fit and Proper" requirements
what happens at conversion
There is plenty of free on-site parking at Clair Hall and Haywards Heath Station is just a few minutes' walk away.
About our Speaker
Branko has worked across the insurance sector for over 30 years and is regularly called upon to write for leading publications, to present to many audiences and has judged a number of broker awards. He has an infectious presentation style and has been told on many occasions that he is the only person in the world who can make compliance sound interesting. He has spoken at virtually all the CII’s local institute dinners and has never used the same joke on more than 100 occasions.
Branko was Thomson Reuters Compliance Personality of the Year 2012 and in 2017 received the London Market Outstanding Contribution to Legal and Compliance Award.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds Chartered status and is also a Member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD). He was Vice-President of the CII from 2008 to 2014 and became a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers and a Freeman of the City of London in 2002.
This demonstrates the quality of an event and that it meets CII member CPD scheme requirements.
1 hour's CPD can be claimed for this event if relevant to your learning and development needs.
It is recommended that you keep any evidence of the CPD activity you have completed and upload copies to the recording tool as the CII may ask to see this if your record is selected for review. Details of the scheme can be viewed online at www.cii.co.uk/cpd.
