    • Nick Richmond, Guided Tours in Brighton & Sussex

Pirates, Ports and Pugwash

Following a very interesting, recent talk on underground Brighton, we are delighted to welcome back Nick Richmond for another of his virtual guided tours.

This time, Nick will lead us on a virtual journey around historic Rye, one of the most unspoilt coastal towns in the country.

Rye is a small, perfectly preserved town that is bursting with history - from its place as one of the "ancient towns" in Norman times, it supported the Cinque Ports and was developed to protect the coast and trade with other countries.

Rye also became notorious for smuggling and the infamous Hawkhurst gang was known to operate here!

Online booking
This event has been arranged by our Sussex Seniors and is open to all members and their guests. If you would like to find out about the artists, authors, pirates and princes that have made the town famous, please reserve your place by clicking on the Book Now button below.

The presentation is free to CII/PFS members (non-members £3 per login) and starts promptly at 7.30pm on Wednesday 24 February 2021. Dependent on the number of questions asked, it is expected to last about 1.5 hours. Please make sure that you have your CII PIN handy, as this will be required to take advantage of the free offer.

Please note, given the historical and occasionally gory nature of this talk, it is not recommended for anyone under 14 years of age.

The presentation will use Zoom technology and login details will be sent to you on confirmation of your booking.
