7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (UK time)
    • Professor Trevor Williams

Back by popular demand for the third instalment!

The Insurance Institute of York is delighted to welcome back Professor Trevor Williams following his successful and fascinating presentations in 2017 and 2018.

We'd love you to join us as Trevor shares his candid and insightful views on the UK economy in the process of Brexit - will the UK be still part of the EU? Trevor's take on it should not be missed.

Trevor has been the Chief Economist at Lloyds Bank - Commercial Banking for over 15 years; he is a visiting Professor at Derby University, Chairman of the Institute of Economic Affairs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee and a well-known author, lecturer and consultant.

His series of presentations have been so successful and well-received that we have asked him back yet again to give us his third (and probably final!) update over supper at York Mansion House, St Helens Square, York YO1 9QL, on Thursday 6th June, 2019.

The return session is arguably even more unmissable with the implications of Brexit, with Professor Williams's fascinating and intriguing views on what the future may hold, certain to keep us on the edge of our seats with views on our world economic position and providing insight into our future as an independent trading nation.

Please take the chance to network and socialise, all in the elegant surroundings of York Mansion House at the incredible value-for-money price of £20 per head, which includes supper and a tour of York Mansion House.

Overview:
Leaving the EU is the single biggest decision the UK has taken in 50 years. The transition means the UK will face some of its greatest challenges. What will happen to employment, economic growth and the Union? Whatever happens will determine the future for you, your children, grandchildren and the businesses you work in or deal with.

In this environment focusing on your personal finances is a wise move. Economics is about consumption. People either spend money now or they use financial instruments – like bonds, shares and savings accounts – so they can spend later. In uncertain times we seek insurance protection from the financial consequences of damage and legal liability.

Learning objectives:
At the end of this event delegates will be able to identify:

• an analysis of the uncertainty the UK faces as it explores opportunities outside the EU
• how to consider personal finances in the light of what will happen to employment, economic growth and the EU
• how economic data can be used by professionals in a meaningful way to better educate their clients

All are welcome, so please spread the word!

Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment
