Guernsey has earned an enviable reputation as a centre of insurance excellence, and our members have every right to be proud of that reputation.

The Insurance Institute of Guernsey’s membership comes from a broad range of disciplines taking in captives, insurers, brokers and loss adjusters, and numbers nearly 330.  Of our membership, over 60% have attained one of the three levels of qualification from the Chartered insurance Institute, and over 22% hold Chartered status.

The IIG enjoys a busy calendar with many social and educational events, all overseen by a keen Council, each of whom volunteer their time to ensure that these events happen.  The Council needs representation from the wide range of disciplines to ensure that each are fairly represented, and welcomes members no matter what their level of experience in the industry is.

With the constant demands, from the public, to the employers and regulators for professionalism to be demonstrated, what better way to do that than to work towards a professional qualification that demonstrates your achievements.

The IIG is here to support those studying for their exams, and those who are already qualified and who need to meet their Continuing Professional Development requirements, and regularly holds educational events that are relevant to our industry.

As well as looking after the educational and networking needs of our membership, we also support the work of the Insurance Charities in addition to the President’s nominated charity.  This year, we are pleased to support Channel Islands Air Search – a locally based rapid response search operation, covering some 4,000 square miles of sea around the Channel Islands and French coast.

We hope that our members will hold fundraising events in their own offices so that we can raise as much money as possible for these two worthy courses.
