Fidelity - Macro Economic Overview

Hosted by Paul Nash

Objectives

Fidelity will give a broad macro-overview, looking at the investment landscape in 2024 and outlining the risks and opportunities investors will encounter over the next 12 months. We will consider the drivers of asset allocation and the factors that will continue to influence those allocations going forward.

The focus will then turn to the world of passive Multi Asset investing - a consideration of what to look for in passive instruments, as well as an overview of some of the key biases and weaknesses of investment vehicles in this space. This will also involve an evaluation of asset allocation and correlations worth considering when building an investment proposition.

Learning Outcome

  1. Understand the key macro risks facing investors today and establishing where opportunities may arise going forward.
  2. Consider the likely path for central banks in 2024 and beyond, whilst also understanding the impacts this could have on global markets.
  3. Evaluate Fidelity’s Capital Market Assumptions and outlining what they mean for a MA investor. Think about asset class returns, correlations and why certain asset classes are excluded from our universe.
  4. Understand the home bias within UK Multi Asset investing and the consequences of having a home bias in your CIP.
  5. Outline what to look for when selecting passive instruments and why it is just as important as in the active space.
