CII forms new Alliance to enhance professionalism in financial services

The CII has joined forces with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and the Chartered Banker Institute in a new alliance aimed at enhancing and sustaining the level of professionalism and trust in the financial services sector.

The Chartered Body Alliance was officially launched at a press event held at the Walkie Talkie building in Central London on 1 March.

CII Chief Executive Sian Fisher and the CEOs of the other signatories to the Alliance spoke about the need for consumers to recognise the benefits of engaging with qualified professionals in the financial services sector.

She said: “This alliance is all about inspiring public confidence and trust in professional standards, fitting perfectly with the CII’s recently launched Strategic Manifesto. I am looking forward to working with other Chartered professional bodies, as well as with our combined network of members, to develop a united voice for promoting professionalism and improving public trust and confidence in the financial services sector.”

The three professional bodies will retain their own identity, governance and areas of expertise, but under a common brand will embark on a range of joint initiatives.

These include jointly promoting the importance of professional status, explaining how their respective qualifications represent the “gold standard” across the sector, hosting joint events, and seeking to respond with a united voice to sector consultations that affect members across all three professional bodies.
