Lunchtime Lecture: An Introduction to Business Interruption Insurance

Overview

This seminar will provide an introductory overview of business interruption cover, including the pre requisites for cover triggering, and the three cash flow impacts of incidents. Highlighting how the cover is written to respond to those, Damian will describe the calculation of lost Gross profit, Increased Costs, and Savings. There will also be discussion about the Maximum Indemnity period, and its impact on claims. Common business interruption extensions will also be highlighted.

Learning objectives At the end of this event, the delegate will be able to identify:

• When BI cover gas been triggered

• How the policy provides an indemnity

• How common extensions work

Speaker biography

Damian Glynn chairs the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) Business Interruption group, and has previously set business interruption examinations for the CILA. He regularly runs financial loss seminars throughout the UK and is a published author on the subject of business interruption, including co-chairing a widely read report on business interruption wordings issued by CILA and the CII.
