History

The passing of the 1986 Insurance Act provided the springboard for the Isle of Man to become a major player in the financial services industry. It is now a stable and welcoming jurisdiction for reputable insurance management, international life assurance companies and financial services. The Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man was founded in 1987 and continues to offer top-quality CPD Events and a local presence to its ever-growing membership base.

Along with the growth of the insurance sector came the growth of sectors servicing the industry such as banks, fund managers, advocates (solicitors), accountants and all the other services required by a modern and dynamic financial services industry. The Island is now also a well-regulated home to the major players in the captive management and international life assurance industries, and is a centre for excellence and innovation in the world-wide insurance market.
