Following the introduction of hefty fines for breaches of the Data Protection Act, organisations are now taking much more seriously their data protection responsibilities. In this hour long session, Joanne Stronach, an information law specialist from Burnetts explains the Eight Principles of Data Protection, organisations' legal obligations and the penalties for data mis-use. The presentation will also include:

• Registering with the Information Commissioner
• Defining Personal Data
• Powers of the Information Commissioner
• Handling Subject Access Requests

An accomplished speaker, Joanne has spoken on issues of data protection and freedom of information to national conferences and has also appeared as a guest speaker at the Football Premier League's Personnel Managers' Forum.
