A Changing World: Cross Panel Discussion

Join us for this discussion event where leaders from our industry discuss how things have changed in our sector and what the future is likely to hold post Covid-19.

The panel will be chaired by Greg Wright from the Yorkshire Post and will discuss questions and issues such as:

• The switchover to staff working from home
• How the sector has dealt with the crisis both in terms of amendments to underwriting policy and claims handling
• Do they think that there will be any consumer backlash against the insurance sector/how will this impact the industries reputation moving forwards.
• Whether they think there will be changes to meeting structures etc moving forwards i.e. traditionally there has been a lot of physical travel to visit customers/suppliers and for claims handling

Panellist Speaker Biographies
David Gillan began his loss adjusting career at Thomas Howell Group (latterly Crawford) in Manchester where he trained and qualified as a Chartered Loss Adjuster. In addition to developing his technical skills, which included establishing himself within the Major and Complex Loss team, David also held several management positions culminating in heading up the Leeds operation. David joined GAB Robins in 2001 as an Area Operations Director before progressing to UK Operations Director Service Delivery and taking a lead role in a number of client relationships.
In 2008 David joined the McLarens UK Executive taking responsibility for the north region and helping to build out the UK operation. He was heavily involved with the Manchester Chartered Insurance Institute during this time and was President in 2012.
He now has responsibility for UK Operations as well as board responsibility for our Construction & Engineering and Agriculture Practices.

Neil Wormald is Regional Manager at Arch Insurance Company. Neil has worked in the Industry for well over 25 years with prominent roles locally at insurers such as NIG, Arista and Fusion. He’s got an in depth knowledge of the industry and is well known across the Leeds Market.

David Sparkes has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry and since 2002 has focused on insurance broking compliance. During that time David led a group's firms through authorisation, as well as providing technical compliance advice to a number of firms, from the international to the very small, on UK regulations.

David is able to bring a 'regulatory mindset' to his role at BIBA (which he took up in August 2013) having spent a number of years at the Financial Services Authority where he focused on insurance broker supervision.
