Webinar: An Introduction to Takaful Insurance

This session will provide an introduction to Takaful Insurance, often referred to as “Islamic Insurance” which is based on sharia or Islamic religious law. An understanding of this subject is seen by many observers not only as technically desirable, but also as a key element of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the UK insurance market.

The event will appeal to anyone who works in roles concerning underwriting, claims, business development, product development and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session delegates will be able to identify:

  • An understanding of what Takaful is
  • How it emerged and why it was needed.
  • The differences between Takaful and conventional insurance arrangements
  • An overview of the different types of Takaful operating models
  • The outlook and challenges which face the takaful market


Speaker
Anis Ataba is the Executive Director of Associate Skills Ltd - a business which is incorporated in Bahrain and the UK. As well as providing a wide range of consultancy services, Anis provides detailed and varied training services for organisations within the financial planning and insurance professions - both conventional and takaful. Anis works with undergraduates, postgraduates, new entrants, executives and boards to create positive and sustainable results that serve the objectives of businesses as well assisting people on their career path.

Anis has delivered his programmes in seven different countries and is also a fully qualified tutor with the Chartered Insurance Institute. He is also a volunteer with the British Red Cross.
