Cost £25 for CII members, £35 for non CII members (includes return coach travel and lunch).

Perhaps best known by motorists for testing vehicle security systems and for their work in testing seats for whiplash prevention, Thatcham Research also provide the majority of the data that insurers use to define a car’s insurance grouping. In fact, Thatcham Research administer the insurance group rating system on behalf of the ABI. Thatcham Research also play a key role in shaping the design of new vehicles and the use of materials and technology. Thatcham Research are regularly asked to provide their experience and know-how at high profile events and in the media, living up to their reputation as ‘Experts in Safety, Security and Crash Repair’.

This trip should deliver the following learning objectives:

  1. An understanding of Thatcham’s aim of containing and reducing the cost of motor insurance claims whilst maintaining safety standards.
  2. Knowledge of the security and safety products that they test and their impact on motor insurance premiums.
  3. Discover how the data that Thatcham use and provide to insurers enables them to set insurance group ratings.
  4. An awareness of the products and services that they provide which assist the motor repair industry.
