I am both delighted and privileged to be appointed as your President for the 2011/2012 term.
2012 marks the 100 year anniversary of the signing of the original Charter, the purpose of which is to maintain the professional, ethical and technical standards of the industry. It is with this in mind that the Insurance Institute of Cardiff will continue to provide a diary of quality lunch time lectures, seminars and workshops on both topical and technical subjects. We will also focus on education with the aim to give as much help and assistance as possible to our members who are taking their professional exams at all levels.
Our social calendar is full and varied for the coming year. This not only assists with the all important networking, but also provides a platform for us to raise much needed funds for charity. My chosen charity for this year is the Arthur Bloom Haemophiliac Centre in the University Hospital of Wales together with the Insurance Charities. The Annual Dinner in 2012 will see the fifth year of our Young Achiever Award, which gives employers the opportunity to showcase their outstanding performers. I personally think such awards can only enhance the industry as a potential career choice for the next generation and I look forward to seeing the nominations for this year's award.
We in Cardiff are fortunate to have an experienced and dedicated Council, but would welcome new Council members to enhance and develop our firm foundations. If you are interested in joining our Council or have any new ideas or suggestions, please do contact me or any of the Council Members.
