Leeds awarded the Insurance Centenary Shield - again!

The Centenary Charity Shield is awarded by ‘The Insurance Charities’ in recognition of efforts in fundraising and also publicising the charity over the course of the year.

In September we were surprised and excited to discover that we had been awarded the Centenary Shield for the year ending 31st March 2020 - for the second year running, as we were jointly awarded the shield (with the Insurance Institute of Dublin) in 2019!

Congratulations go to Michelle Gilmore, our Charities Team Leader for the year, for all of her hard work fundraising and promoting the charity and also to Chris Lockwood, the President in the 2019-20 year. To be awarded the honour two years in a row really reflects the hard work of our charities team.

Due to the situation with the pandemic the presentation of the shield was delayed, however we have now received the shield and the Chair of the Insurance Charities John Greenway kindly recorded the below video with a special message to us and our members.

The shield is currently sitting proudly in the home office of current President Melanie Jordan, so please look out for it when she's hosting our CPD webinars!

Our Council have maintained their fundraising efforts over the last year, continuing to raise money for charity via various events such as a virtual raffle and generally promoting our charities.

All money that we raise will be split 50/50 between The Insurance Charities and our President’s chosen charity for the year, Touchstone. We’d love it if you could support us with any donations using our Virgin Giving page:

Thank you.
