FCA Masterclass

Wednesday, 28 January 2015
9:00 am – 12:30 pm (UK time)

Presenter: Branko Bjelobaba FCII, Chartered Insurance Practitioner and Thomson Reuters Compliance Personality of the Year 2012.
Cost: CII member's rate for the half-day course: £150 + VAT

A practical workshop that will prepare you for the FCA assessments that will target over 900 firms in the North Yorks and North East areas (firms in BB, BD, CA, DH, DL, HG, LA, LS, NE, SR and TS postcodes only).

The FSA's "Treating Customers Fairly" initiative has now evolved under the FCA into the "Business Risk Awareness Review," a four year programme that will assess all C3 and C4 classified firms from both the financial services and general insurance sectors.

In order to prepare organisations for these reviews, Branko will be delivering a half-day masterclass that will provide delegates with invaluable advice on how to prepare for these reviews and how to ensure your firm gets through the 2 hour face to face/telephone assessment or the 3 to 4 hours taken to get through the on-line assessment.

From the 10,000+ firms that have already been assessed, these are the current “issues” being highlighted by the FCA and these will be covered in the masterclass:-
- Management involvement and commitment to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Collection, analysis and use of MI;
- Demonstrating the suitability of advice;
- Robust affordability assessment for protection products;
- Recruitment process and TC;
- Financial matters - solvency, client money.

Branko will be providing every delegate with a toolkit (this will be emailed to you with your joining instructions to bring to the event) to prepare for the areas under assessment which will include a full business gap analysis as well as a FULL list of questions that have been asked at assessments done up to now.

He will also show you what happens after the assessment and the areas for improvement that the FCA has asked for in many firms. After the assessment, one in five firms will also face a more intensive on-site review called a Verification Visit and you will be shown what happens when the VV takes place. Branko's masterclass is interactive and ideas will be shared and there will be some group work.
