Speakers will be 9.15am – 11am, 11.15am – 1pm followed by buffet lunch 1-1.30pm.

Leeds Insurance Institute is proud to present this half day seminar on Emerging Trends affecting the insurance industry. The Seminar will include speakers on Drones, Blockchain Technology, Future of Commercial Insurance Broking.

A breakdown of each of the speakers/subjects is shown below:

Drones:
Speaker – Leon Abrahamson of Drone Pro Services
DPS are a nationwide drone services provider currently working with a whole host of industry sectors inc insurance, loss adjusters, real estate etc. Their nationwide network of licensed, CAA regulated & compliant drone pilots currently consists of several hundred located across the country.
Leon has specifically developed this niche business over the last 7 years with detailed knowledge in this very specialist sector.

Learning objectives:
- Brief introduction to Drones (UAVs) in the commercial world.
- The benefits of drones to the insurance sector, risk factors & efficiency over traditional methods.
- Examples of the different deliverable outputs achievable from drone data capture inc their accuracy and uses in industry.
- The position of Drone Pro Services in the insurance sector.


Future of Commercial Insurance Broking:
Speaker – John Warburton of Konsileo Broking
John is the author of a CII Research Report on this topic and co-founder of future broking company Konsileo. He has worked in the insurance profession for over 20 years and was former director of global marketing & digital strategy at Allianz.

Although this section is obviously focused on insurance broking moving forwards this should have interest for people across general insurance as it will also cover how automated underwriting will affect the broking platform and the relationships between underwriters and brokers in the future.

- What is the current state of play in the commercial broking market and what is driving change.
- What clients want from technology and their broker contacts moving forwards. How current client service models work.
- How will technology change things for brokers?
- Lead Generation moving forwards
- The Internet of Things: What opportunities does this represent.

Emerging Trends in Insurance
Speaker – Martin Watson from Deloittes
Martin is a Director in Deloitte’s financial services practice, focused on the insurance sector. He has recently moved to Leeds, having spent the last 10 years in the London practice. An accountant by background, Martin has assisted numerous clients in thinking through what future developments in the insurance industry mean for the risks their businesses face and the impact on their financial and regulatory reporting.

Learning Objectives:
- Understand what forces are transforming the insurance industry.
- Look at the implications of transformative forces such as predictive analytics, self driving cars, distributed ledger technology.
- What are the possible scenarios for the future as a result of this.
- Look at some of the innovations surrounding the insurance industry.

Blockchain Technology
Speaker – TBC from Deloittes

Learning Objectives:
- What is Blockchain Technology
- How can this technology be used in the insurance industry and what would be the benefits
- What are the current issues stopping this being used more.
- Implications for the future.
