Welcome – from President Sharon Theobald

As the seasons change and the trees start to shed their leaves, I can hear the wind blowing ferociously outside, which is never a good thing to hear if you Insurance Claims sector!

Over the summer and previous weeks, we have provided some great CPD content on a whole manner of topics from sprinkler systems, how to escape life’s drama with Caroline Martin, as well as examination revision; and we have so much more to look forward to. Michael Quigley from Kataholos joins us for our first face to face CPD event this year continuing his series of CPD events with the theme of communicating. The event on 28th September will be held at the Forum in Norwich, focusing on communication both online and offline. There are spaces still available, and we would love for you to come along and join us.

We are also looking forward to our Annual Dinner to be held at The Assembly House on Friday, 10th November. With our James Bond Casino theme, this will be a great event to network and catch up with friends and colleagues, old and new. The last remaining tickets are still available, book now to avoid missing out!

Finally, we are exceptionally proud of our very own Council Member, Hannah Green, in receiving the Crawford Prize for best result in completion of the Advanced Diploma in Insurance Qualification, as well as The Dr Alexander Scott Prize for the Certificate in Insurance Market Specialisation.  These achievements are incredible and we are grateful to have Hannah as part of our Council. Congratulations Hannah!

Myself and the Council Member of the Insurance Institute of Norwich, look forward to seeing you at our CPD events and our Annual Dinner in November

Big C, Norwich Research Park Trip

Our President Sharon Theobald and our Deputy President Alycia Thomson were invited to visit the laboratories at Norwich Research Park which are funded by our Charity of Year, The Big C.

We felt very privileged to be shown around by Dr Andrew Beekman and have an insight into the work carried out by his team at Norwich Research Park.

Some of the projects have resulted in ground-breaking advances in bowel, prostate and blood cancers amongst others. The Big C Cancer Charity plays a fundamental part in research as well as the extensive support provided to cancer patients in Norfolk and North Suffolk.

Norfolk Personal Finance Society Update

The committee have organised two events recently. A face to face Meaningful Objectives session in August which focused on the importance of obtaining a client’s true objectives and explore ways of approaching these conversations effectively. In September, we are running another Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) CPD day, following the successful event we ran last year. This will take place at the Forum.

We are pleased to announce that David Coleman of Just Financial has agreed to join the committee. This takes the committee numbers to six and we are hopeful that a few more will join later this year or early next.
