About the Session

This session examines Contract Works policies and what they cover, what are the main cover issues (including defect exclusions) and the information brokers need to place the cover. We will also have a follow up 'Advanced Contract Works' session on 27th June 2024 at 1.30pm.

• Contract Works - what it actually covers - including main exclusions
• Contract Works - Defect exclusions - DE 1- DE 5 meanings
• PL in construction - when is cover for JCT 6.5.1 needed
• What information does a broker need to get a construction quotation?

Learning Objectives

• Be aware of what a Contract Works policy covers
• Know how the design defect exclusions apply and what cover is available
• Understand what liability cover a contractor requires

We are delighted to have Diane Jenkins BA (Hons), ACII, Chartered Insurance Broker hosting this session, supported by Nick Thomas, on behalf of Nick Thomas and Associates.

Diane has huge experience working with major Brokers across a range of roles and disciplines, to include:

• Client Servicing
• Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) due diligence

Diane is now a highly respected trainer to the insurance market.

Diane’s strength is in practical application of knowledge with specific specialisms including Business Interruption, Cyber and Property Owners.

She is the Education Secretary and former chairperson of the London Business Interruption Association. She was part of the IIL Advance Study Group - Business Interruption Policy Wordings and has collaborated with the authors of several Business Interruption textbooks.

She is a member of the Cyber Insurance Association, and she carries out the insurance cyber policy reviews for Cyber|Decider (

Diane’s work includes delivery as an Associate for Nick Thomas & Associates.
