Resilience & Rebalance

As we look ahead to 2026, we believe the conditions are in place for equity markets to deliver further gains, with non-US markets continuing to lead and sectors beyond Tech making further progress.

We will discuss why we are less concerned, in the near term, about global government debt levels and, by contrast, why we see much resilience in the private sector. Households and corporates are generally in a strong financial state, raising the prospect of an acceleration in borrowing and spending in the years ahead.

We expect this resilience to be further bolstered by policy easing in the United States and at home in the UK. Fiscal support across Europe, Japan, and China should further help lift the global economy out of what we view as a mid-cycle slowdown.

In the second section of this seminar, we will deliver a dedicated segment on the UK. We will discuss the macroeconomic, political, and UK market prospects in detail, and outline reasons to be less downbeat on the UK than most.
