Alan & Thomas Raise £4,000 for Charity

After another successful year’s fundraising for their charity of the year, Alan & Thomas Insurance Group recently handed over a cheque for £4000 to Mosaic, the Dorset charity which offers support to bereaved children. Having adopted Mosaic at the beginning of 2015 following a staff vote, the insurance broker’s eighty strong workforce have pulled out all the stops to raise vital funds for the charity, which provides grief counselling for young people and support to children and families who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or loved one.

Activities such as dress down days, bake sales, in-house breakfasts and cream teas, prize raffles and sweepstakes, a rugby ticket auction and the annual A&T quiz night were all well supported by staff, clients and contacts, and helped contribute to the total amount, which was then doubled by the company to reach their final donation of £4000.

Lizzey Cull, who leads the company’s fundraising efforts is delighted with the final sum, “We’re all really pleased that we’ve managed to raise such a fantastic sum of money for Mosaic. And we’ll see it put to good use when Mosaic hold their inaugural ‘A Day to Remember’ event for bereaved children and their families in February.”

Katie Hensman, Fundraiser at Mosaic, is equally thrilled by the donation, “Our work is so vital for children and young people in Dorset so to receive such an amazing amount of money means that we can extend our programme of support events by not only hosting our first ‘A Day to Remember’ in but by also holding an Elephant’s Tea Party & Fun Day for families in May and contributing towards an activity day at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Education Centre in Bransgore in the summer.”

“Our professionally trained child bereavement counsellors provide the one-to-one support with children and young people, but these social events really bring the family back together again, allowing them to make time for each other. Bereavement can be a very isolating and scary time for children and adults alike, so to spend time with others who understand how they are feeling is absolutely vital. We would like to thank Alan & Thomas Insurance Group so very, very much for allowing us to run these events and others like them, which benefit the family as a whole.”

Alan & Thomas, who have offices in Poole, Gillingham, Dorchester, Frome and Basingstoke, are no strangers to supporting local worthwhile causes and have over the past four years helped to raise more than £17,000 for Mosaic, Gully’s Place Trust Fund and the Wessex Cancer Trust. They have an internal charity committee who are responsible for organising fundraising events and activities throughout the year, which staff and clients take part in.
