18th January RO6 (Financial Planning Practice) Pre Exam Training, Wednesday 18th January 2023 - online distance learning event

Wednesday, 18 January 2023
9:30 am – 4:30 pm (UK time)

The Personal Finance Society Hants & Dorset, Surrey and Thames Valley Regional Committees in association with the Insurance Institutes of Bournemouth, Guildford, Reading and Southampton have organised a ‘distance learning’ training day via an online and interactive conference video facility for those members who are studying for and taking the RO6 examination.

This will be an online distance learning event.

The cost of the day’s training will be £149 for Hants & Dorset, Surrey and Thames Valley PFS members and £149 for all other PFS members and £159 for non-PFS members. There is a maximum of 16 attendees. If we are oversubscribed, you will be placed on a waiting list.

We reserve the right to cancel this event should there be less than 6 delegates attending. Should this occur a full refund or transfer to an alternative course will be offered and some supporting material, at no extra cost, will be sent to the enrolled delegates.

The day will commence at 0930 sharp and finish by 1630, with breaks timetabled for lunch etc throughout the day.

The course is recorded and a copy is sent out to all delegates.

The RO6 preparation day aims to increase your chances of passing the exam.

This intensive workshop will work through the case studies that will be examined in the January 2023 sitting.

The exam is based on two narrative case studies that will be issued approximately two weeks before the exam. Typically one is about a couple with young children and the other is concerned with a couple in their 60s who have either retired or are on the verge of doing so. You will also be given each couple’s financial objectives.

The exam tests your ability to give advice so will cover:

  • what additional information you need to give advice
  • what options are available that would enable the client to meet their objectives
  • the advantages and disadvantages of the different options
  • what you would recommend together with a justification
  • an explanation of the product you have recommended
  • what you would discuss at a future review

The workshop will work though the case studies as a group to identify the clients' objectives, the likely questions, how they should be answered and to revise the technical points arising from these questions.

Overall objective
To significantly improve delegates’ chances of passing the exam by developing an analysis of the pre-exam case studies.

This will be a one-day event.

By the end of the event delegates will able to:

  • analyse and understand the information contained in the case studies
  • identify the questions that could be asked in the exam
  • identify the possible solutions to the identified objectives
  • understand the technical points that are likely to be tested in the exam
  • write answers to gain maximum marks

Our 2023 online revision programme is being co-ordinated by Dean Scott and L&D Digital Solutions. The course trainer is John Trayner FPFS, a member of the L&D Digital Solutions trainers team.
