President's Message

Thank you for your support and for electing me as President. I’m looking forward to working with our council, members and partners to build an even more engaged and successful Institute over the coming year.

This year, my focus is on engagement: strengthening the connections that help our Institute thrive.

• Engagement with (and from) local businesses.
• Engagement with (and from) our members.
• More focused collaboration across both the GI and PFS branches of the Institute.

We have a strong foundation to build on, including a busy social and CPD calendar, the Awards Dinner and the President’s Reception. I’m excited to work with the council and our wider community to keep delivering great events and adding even more value for members.

My Nominated Charity of the Year is the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity

Born and raised in and around Portsmouth, the Royal Navy has always been part of my life; and in a way that connects to many of us professionally, insurance and shipping have long been closely linked, making this a fitting charity for the Institute to support.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is the principal charity of the Royal Navy, supporting Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel and their families: past, present and future. Since 2007, it has funded projects and facilities that improve morale and quality of life across the Naval community, including serving personnel, families, children and veterans.

Through our fundraising this year, we hope to make a genuine and lasting difference to the people behind the uniform, helping families stay connected during deployments, supporting veterans in times of need, funding mental health and relationship services, and improving quality of life in later years. Please support our events where you can, and help us maximise the impact of the Insurance Institute of Bristol’s contribution.
