Summary
On the next workshop we’ll explore a framework for supporting working parents. In this session we’ll recap some of the data from the first session, including the importance of supporting working parents as well as the policy, process & practice of this support. We’ll also explore the themes of success for supporting working parents; what are other organisations doing?
Learning Objectives
Objective 1: Attendees will be able to articulate the business case for
supporting working parents
We’ll recap on some of the data from the first session including the
importance of supporting working parents and how that contributes to the
gender pay gap in insurance.
Objective 2: Attendees will be armed with a framework to begin thinking about their own
organisational approach to supporting working parents
We’ll talk about why every organisation starts with policy and why that doesn’t make sense.
We’ll highlight the important of culture and how that’s what really determines whether
working parents stay with their employer.
Objective 3: Attendees will be able to name the seven themes of success for supporting working parents
including flexible working and equitable and family-friendly policies
We’ll introduce the seven themes of success from the Careers After Babies framework. We’ll delve into the first two
- flexible work environment and equitable and family friendly policies - and how these are the bedrocks for most
organisations. Using real life examples and common errors, we’ll share insight into what other organisations and
countries are doing.
