The Insurance Institute of Guernsey’s focus is to provide support to those studying for their exams and those who are already qualified and who need to meet their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
In order to support our members we hold regular lecture lunches which are relevant to our industry with a wide variety of speakers and topics. We hold an annual Insurance Development Day (IDD), which provides six hours of structured CPD and is always very popular with both attendees and high quality speakers. We are always looking for speakers for all our events, so if you have any recommendations we would love to hear from you.
We hold an annual education day in order to help our members prepare themselves for the exams. If there are any topics that you would like to have help with or a particular skill that you might benefit from like “How to Study” please contact the council and we will do our best to help.
We are not just about the education and the CPD we also like to hold social events so that we as an industry can get together, which include the annual inter Island Guernsey v. Jersey football and netball held in the summer that is extremely competitive, our annual Golf day held in September and of course our Quiz which remains a highlight in the IIG calendar and is always fully subscribed. Our prestigious Annual Dinner will be held in October, and we urge all companies attending to invite their colleagues who have gained a qualification during the year as the main reason for the event is to celebrate their achievement.
As well as looking after the educational and networking needs of our membership, we also support the work of the Insurance Charities in addition to the President’s nominated charity. This year, we are pleased to support Cardiac Action Group.
All of our events are overseen by a keen Council, each of whom volunteers their time to ensure that these events happen. The Council needs representation from a wide range of disciplines to ensure that each are fairly represented, along with a wide age range so that all voices are heard, and welcomes members no matter what their level of experience in the industry is. If you are a member of the insurance institute of Guernsey and would like to get involved with the Council, please speak do not hesitate to contact me.
I hope you find the website useful and please feel free to contact us if you would like any further information.
