President's Message

Welcome to the website for the Insurance Institute of Guernsey. I am delighted to have been elected as President for the 2023-24 term. This is something that I take great pride in and continuing the legacy of my predecessors from the last 40 years, in supporting what is an amazing industry and community.

The IIG has approximately 400 members, of which over two-thirds have attained some form of qualification in insurance or financial services. 77 of our members hold Chartered status. The IIG council supports education through exam support as well as continuing professional development through our development days and a programme of monthly lunch events, which I am keen to build a consistent calendar for.

I am also committed for the IIG to provide more social networking opportunities such as our quiz night and also working closely with IIJ to ensure we reintroduce the netball and football inter-insular matches. Once a year the IIG gathers to celebrate our members and their academic achievements during our awards ceremony the annual dinner held at the Duke of Richmond.

I am keen to hear feedback from our members, especially around social events, sponsorship opportunities and educational speakers / topics that you would feel valuable and I am always available for a coffee.

Being on council allows members to give something back to the industry, and also provides a forum for networking and developing skills that are of use throughout a career in insurance. There are also opportunities to get involved in more informal roles for members who are interested in finding out what our local institute is all about, but may feel that they cannot commit the time to a full role on council.

I’m excited for the next 12 months and wanted to extend a thank you to my council for volunteering their valuable time to provide support and guidance not just to me but the Guernsey Insurance Community.
