Inheritance tax receipts for April 2022 to January 2023 stood at £5.9bn, an increase of 15% on the previous year, according to the latest data from HM Revenue & Customs.

Our Speakers

Tony Whincup

Tony joined Close Brothers Asset Management in May 2017 as a Director in the Investment Specialist team, providing regulated investment advice across our investment propositions.

Tony began his investment career in Jersey at Bankers Trust. After stints travelling and working as a journalist, he spent 10 more years at UBS Jersey – first at the Investment Bank managing the Asset-Backed Security book, then in Wealth Management as a Client Adviser where he specialised in advising UK resident-non-domiciled clients in discretionary, advisory and execution-only services, including credit and FX. He has also worked at St James’s Place in the UK, offering holistic financial planning and wealth management.

He is a Chartered Fellow and Wealth Manager of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, holds a PG Dip In Broadcast Journalism from City, University of London, and an honours degree in French and Geography from Keele University.

David Wilson

David joined Close Brothers Asset Management in October 2022 as Business Development Director for Scotland, Northern Ireland and North East England. He is responsible for managing the key relationships in the region, promoting the full CBAM investment proposition. He has over 23 years of experience in Financial Services.

Prior to joining CBAM David was a Business Development Manager with Triple Point Investment Management where he focussed on assisting advisers and their clients with Estate Planning and other tax efficient investment planning. He has previously held various roles including business development, business consultancy and platform relationship management with Just Group, Standard Life and other leading Life, Asset Management and Pension providers.

He is a member of the Personal Finance Society and holds the Diploma in Financial Planning qualification.

Alan Cameron

Alan is a Chartered Insurer and associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Alan has been specialising on offshore bonds and Tax and trust planning for the majority of his circa 35-year career.

David Cunningham

David is the protection specialist for Scottish Widows and supports financial planners in engaging with their clients across all protection needs, helping to build frameworks and processes to drive efficiencies within the protection market. Having worked in the protection market for 15 years David is an advocate of proper protection planning as part of any financial planning journey.
