We are delighted to invite you to our Black History Month keynote session with award-winning Equality, Diversity and Inclusion specialist, CEO and changemaker Ellisha Soanes.

Through powerful storytelling and lived experience, Ellisha will share her journey through education, leadership and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, providing practical insights and reflections on belonging, representation and creating meaningful change.

From recognising gaps within organisations and communities, to working with Marvel on the award-winning Power of Stories Black Panther Exhibition, Ellisha's career has been driven by a commitment to social mobility, inclusion and empowering others. Her journey has led from educator and advocate to CEO, parliamentary contributor and being one of the top 15 Trailblazer Black Women in the UK.

During the session, we'll explore:

  • Black history, identity and belonging
  • Representation and lived experience
  • Recognising gaps within organisations and communities
  • The importance of creating spaces where people feel they belong
  • How we can begin bridging gaps and create meaningful change

This keynote offers an opportunity to reflect on personal experiences, learn from Ellisha's inspiring journey, and consider how we can all play a part in fostering more inclusive workplaces and communities.

About Ellisha Soanes

Ellisha Soanes is an award-winning ED&I specialist and CEO working within the education sector for the 10 years and in the health and social care/Public Health sector for over 15 years. She is a recognised advocate for social mobility and was among the first Further Education lecturers in the UK to embed Black History throughout the year.

Her achievements include creating the Elimu Little Book of Knowledge, one of the first Black History interactive books promoting positive representation, and leading the award-winning Power of Stories Black Panther Exhibition. Ellisha works extensively with national and international stakeholders, advises on parliamentary boards, mentors young people and has been recognised by Glamour magazine as one of the UK's Top 15 Trailblazer Black Women.

The session will conclude with an opportunity for questions and discussion.
