2018 Annual Dinner

Chairman: Tracey Fisher MBE ACII

  • Tracey Fisher IIL President

Friday 26th January

Tracey Fisher MBE (Chairman), and President of the Insurance Institute of Liverpool welcomed distinguished guests, guests and members to the Annual Dinner.
Speakers included Dave Howell, Chief Auditor UK and International, RSA who gave the proposal and CII Vice President, Grant Scott who gave the response.
The After Dinner Speaker, Brian McNamara, served in the Metropolitan Police for 32 years spending most of his career on Special Operations including two tours on the Flying Squad. He entertained the audience with stories of some of his more memorable encounters as a Police Officer including being confronted by 3 pythons and a boa constrictor all owned by an exotic dancer! The attending Fire Brigade suggested he did an exotic dance like the snakes owner, but Brian declined and left the room faster than he went in.
The Annual Dinner also saw two very well deserved awards being presented.
Having been very successful in his insurance examinations, the Young Achiever Award was given to John Clarke of Kingsbridge Insurance Brokers. He was described as “a shining example to other young ambitious insurance professionals”.
The Exceptional Service Award was given to Julie Calvert from Pavis Chartered Financial Planners in recognition of her commitment and dedication to the Institute. A past President of IIL and head of the Charity Committee on council, Julie was integral in forming the affiliation between IIL and Financial Liverpool. It really was a special day for Julie as she also took over from Keith Marshall as Chair of Financial Liverpool at lunchtime, we wish Julie the best of luck as Chair.
Tracey, with over 30 years Insurance experience, described a number of the activities that had been undertaken during her year of office linking back to the archives to show how the traditions and history of the Institute are still being kept alive today. A memorable trip to Cammell Laird and a Family Fun Day to name a few. The evening also saw a prize draw being held to raise funds for North West Air Ambulance with a fantastic total of £2,453.65 being collected!
