No one should be ‘Lonely this Christmas’

No one should be ‘Lonely this Christmas’

As Centre staff explained at a recent talk hosted by Weightmans LLP, those without a fixed address can come from all walks of life and find themselves in this situation for a variety of circumstances. Who would have thought that those the Centre have recently been helping would include marketing managers, barristers and heart surgeons from around our city. Indeed the Centre advise that we are all just 2 1/2 pay packets away from being at risk of homelessness, a statistic that has significantly worsened over the past decade. No one is immune.

There are a variety of ways we can all help, from making financial and gift donations to the Centre, volunteering, or encouraging our organisations to become corporate supporters, as Weightmans have done. However it can often be as simple as letting the Centre know you are concerned about someone you see living on the streets. There is always a shelter for the homeless in Liverpool so if you see someone living out on the streets please just ring Whitechapel on 0300 123 2041 or log on to Liverpool.gov.uk/alwaysroominside to ensure the Whitechapel Outreach Team can help them.
